The Story of Inflation

Bumbum! So there's this event and a few Inflation members are participating in it. I'm posting them on my blog so they'll be archived here, so enjoy! This second story was written by me, titled The Story of Inflation.

----------

There was a world, a vast abyss of sea and blue and in this abyss was an island. The island wasn't too small for it had many cities and abstract landscapes. One land was made entirely of cookies while another was made out of iron and grease. There were towns, but they were mostly empty, devoid of civilization. The land was left barren, vacant of humans, other than the monsters that crawled the dirt, sand, and waters of the island. After time, people began to populate the island and gave it a name, Jiendia, but never ventured from their spots, set in their own scripted roles. However, a few lived differently than those on this island and each had their own personalities.

A girl who wore frills made out of dreams lived in the city of Elias. She always had a smile on her porcelain white face and a twinkle in her pink eyes. Her laughter and songs of her shenanigans echoed throughout the city. The inhabitants knew her to be a person to have fun and think of the consequences later, but they cared less of her negative points and were swept away into her world. Her name was SEKIREI. In Belos, a boy participated in the Monster Coliseum every day and every hour it was open. Day and night, he would slay monsters until his hands were black with congealed blood, his short black hair drenched with sweat, and his eyes dyed the color of red. The boy had two black wings and his devilish exterior intimidated those who saw him. Nevertheless, the inhabitants of the island sometimes took advantage of his bloodlust and used him to acquire fame, fortune, and strength in the Coliseum, but the boy never noticed. He was blinded by the sprays of blood that erupted from the monsters he slashed into. His name was Infernal.

A girl milled around the city of Elias, but she didn't have a home. She was driven out of her old one because of her personality. Her lips never ceased to move and failed to notice the discomfort her useless banter was causing to her listeners. Her voice was shrill and loud, never once was it soft and gentle, and all she talked about was herself and her skewed perception of the world. She had tiny angel wings that her short orange hair barely touched, her innocence shining brightly in the gleam of her big blue eyes. She was too innocent to realize the wrong she was doing to others. Her name was Infiniti. A boy who roamed the earth poked his head into civilization sometimes, but most of the time he was in his own little world. None of the inhabitants could understand him for he spoke in a different dialect and spoke solely to the people that understood him. He had darkened skin with dark hair and eyes. Had he spoken the common language of the island, he would have enticed the female population of the island, but alas, they ignored him. His name was Executors.

Under a leaf in the forest was a boy with dark hair and lazy green eyes. He would sleep under his leaf day in and day out. One would find him lazy and boring, but those who have managed to wake him up and to strike a conversation with him, they would be surprised. His tongue was sharp with biased opinion and favoritism. The more he talked, the more people were inclined to stop talking to him. And so, the boy was left alone in the forest under his leaf to sleep the day away and away and away. His name was Tensai. There was a boy that spent most of his time in a bookstore, a book store where everyone visited to get information and the latest news. He was extremely rude and obnoxious in that bookstore, especially to people that hardly visited that store. He would criticize the smallest utterance of words and invoke anger in the poor souls of the inhabitants, but what could they do? They had to go to that bookstore in order to be informed. There were times in which the boy left the bookstore and his personality flipped entirely. No longer was he rude or obnoxious, he was considerate and giving. However, this side of the boy’s extreme bipolarity never changed the opinions of the inhabitants. His name was FurryFandom.

On the island, there was a competition called PvP. They didn't know what PvP stood for, but they knew what it meant. It was where the inhabitants could fight against each other without breaking the laws of the island. Two of the inhabitants spent lengthily amounts of time in the PvP arena. One was a girl, medium in statue with warm colored hair and gentle eyes. She was very rude and blunt to the people around her, not afraid of the consequences that would follow. Although this sort of bravery can be admired, it soon turns into overconfidence as the girl began to believe that she was untouchable, invincible against the laws of the island. Her name was Deviate. The other was a boy, a bit taller than the girl with light blue hair and purple eyes. His emotions fluctuate mildly, being rude one moment and nice another; however, he had one vice. He was deathly competitive. He would do anything to win and win is what he did most of the time. Such determination can be admired, but it soon turns into obsession as the boy began to obsess over his victories and losses. His name was Esper.

There was another girl that wandered the landscape and civilization, aimlessly walking with a loose smile on her face. Although she had blades at her side, she never used them for recreation. She was a nice person, always smiling and had a kind atmosphere around her. She was a very nice person, but that was all that she was: just nice. Her personality had no form, just degrees of kindness. She drifted from one area to another, aimlessly being nice and kind. Her name was Independent. On the other side of Elias lived a girl with blood red hair and striking emerald green eyes with a rough image. She was a ruthless fighter, stabbing her allies in the back when the consequence benefited her goals. In this cycle of friendships and the destruction of friendships, she was ignorant of the truth, what lied beyond the surface and faces of others. She only believed what was told to her to be the only truth and never changed her opinion, no matter what. Her name was Alziluth.

With a confident stride, a boy walked through the towns, a gold and red vinyl crown settled in his red short hair. He wore robes of gold and red and his confident glint shining in his green glossy eyes. He was king to them all and he felt like it. His cocky attitude was evident and in his mind, he stood superior to others, but that was far from the truth. When one showed any sign that they would overthrow his reign, he would smite and subdue them into submission. He struggled so hard to keep the illusion of his monarchy clear in his head that he didn’t notice that he was straying more and more from the reality that was before him. His name was Royalty. Above the clouds was a person. This person was neither male or female, but its appearance was of a man. He wore dark clothes with orange gold lining and sat upon his cloud in the sky, listening and watching the inhabitants interact. Whenever there were problems, he was there to fix them and maintain order on the island. Most of the inhabitants respected this godlike figurehead, but deep down they loathed and thought less of him. He knew this, but let it go. He was only there to maintain order. His name was GM.

One day, a raft crashed on the shore of the island near the city port of Elfa. The commotion coaxed most of the inhabitants to examine the wreckage, even Tensai. There were no people found in the shards of wood and after a day of moving the wood of the thick logged raft, the inhabitants returned to Elfa to rest and prepare for another search the next day. What they didn’t know that there was something under the wreckage. In the dead of night, the logs began to move, slowly and gradually, until a body of a boy emerged from underneath the mountain of wood. He had bruised porcelain white skin and dirty short snow white hair. His clothes were dark with highlights of blue and tatters and large fruited laurels ordained his hair. Exhausted from his struggle, the boy fainted and slept until morning. When he came to, he awoke to the face of Royalty examining him closely. The inhabitants of the island gathered around the strange boy, some of which had disgusted expressions on their faces. The boy struggled to his feet as Royalty stepped away into the mob of onlookers. When he stood upright, the group gasped.

“Ew! That’s so disgusting!” Deviate cried, looking away in disgust. “Okay that’s it; I’m leaving.” And leave was what she did.

“Is that even possible? Because I thought something like that would never happen. This one time,” Infiniti began, slipping into one of her banters about herself. Everyone turned her out.

“Oh how dreadful…” Independent airily said draping a cloth over the boy’s back.

“¿De dónde procede este muchacho? Él este extraño y no de este mundo,” Executors commented, but no one understood what he said.

“So what do we do with him? He doesn’t seem strong,” Infernal pointed out as Esper crossed his arms.

“He looks too delicate to be able to fight. I think I’ll join Deviate at the arena. Laters,” he said before rushing after Deviate. Alziluth’s glare loomed over the boy before she turned away in disgust.

“I don’t like the vibe I get from this guy. I don’t want to associate myself with him,” She said walking away. Tensai just lazily gazed at the boy before leaving with Independent whom became bored herself. Before long, everyone but Royalty left, bored out of their minds or committed to prior important things to do other than help the boy. The boy just blinked as Royalty addressed him.

“Well, welcome to Jiendia. I’m Royalty and the group that was just here were was the other inhabitants of this island. The only two that didn’t come were FurryFandom, who had to check the bookstore and SEKIREI who was stuck in Elias planning some sort of festival.” The boy just stared at Royalty whom looked at the boy uneasily. “Uh, enjoy your stay and don’t get in my way.”

And he was gone. The boy didn’t understand why the group looked at him with contempt and disgust. For it wasn’t because the white gloss of his eyes were a dark onyx and his iris were a striking blue nor was it because he was barefooted. He looked at his reflection in the water and removed the drape over his back. His large luscious white feathered right wing was gone, leaving a bloody stump where it used to be, poking its large ugly head through his dark colored vest and white collared shirt. The boy didn’t mind though and rummaged through the debris, finding his gold harp guitar with a blue bolt. He then walked to civilization with his left wing hugging his side close.

The boy made his home in Elias Palace, venturing into the city to play with the market. The boy’s niche was handling money and the economy, bringing wealth to the inhabitants, but mostly for himself. Although he was docile and stoic, the inhabitants all found reasons to hate him. Whenever the boy went into the bookstore to publish his suggestions, questions and economic findings, FurryFandom was there to burn his work in his hands, laughing manically. Whenever the boy went into the PvP arena, Deviate snapped at him and rudely insulted him while Esper challenged him to a duel. Whenever the boy went to Belos, Infernal splattered blood on his feet whenever they crossed paths and Tensai would come out from under his leaf to taunt him. Whoever the boy was anywhere, Royalty glared at him, Infiniti loudly told him her opinion of him, Alziluth betrayed him, Independent did nothing for him, Executors spoke in his language to him and SEKIREI played cruel pranks on him. Regardless of the strife against him, the boy found joy in a flower that he found on the ground, abandoned and wilting. He nursed it back to health and it began to talk to him. He was surprised. The flower had the face of a small child, skin of new bark and a pacifier of a special fertilizer in its mouth. It promised the boy great power if he treated the flower with love and respect, watering it and giving it enough sunshine, allowing time and a special yellow serum to take effect for the flower to grow. Although pushed away and spoken so badly about, the boy remained cheerful and looked forward to the next day, watering his flower, giving it enough sunshine, allowing time and a special yellow serum to take effect for the flower to grow. His name was Inflation.

Every week on the island was a race between all the inhabitants. It was a short sprint form Belos to Elias, but it was significant to them. It was how they asserted dominance. The one that reached Elias first was the most dominant person. Since the beginning, Royalty was the most dominant inhabitant on the island with SEKIREI and Infiniti close behind, but as time went on, the gap grew and Executors began to catch up. Deviate and Esper joined, but they trailed behind the pack. Alziluth and Tensai were behind the two while FurryFandom was behind them. Before long, however, they gained power from their individual flowers and the gaps fluctuated. Even Independent gained on the lead pack. Inflation watched as they all struggled for power with his flower pot next to him.

“Neutral, why do they fight for power?” Inflation asked. The flower shook his branches.

“I don’t know why. Maybe its because humans keep grasping for power when they should be content.” Inflation looked at his flower and looked back into the forest to see Infernal cut down a wolf. He thought for a moment before asking another question.

“Is it wrong to feel that I should participate as well?”

“Feelings are neither right nor wrong. They just tell you the only truth that you perceive.” Inflation began to participate in the races, gradually getting better as time went on. With every person he passed, they sneered at him more. The bullying intensified and the taunting accelerated. It wasn’t long until he was right behind Royalty. Inflation passed Royalty in the next race and an outrage occurred. No longer did bullying and taunting occur. Verbal and physical abuse came and the tension skyrocketed. But through the turmoil, Inflation picked himself up and continued with his simple life: milling through the market and talking with his flower.

Above the clouds, GM was watching the inhabitants closely. He was displeased, so he devised a solution. With a call from the heavens, GM made the land rain with lightning and shine with light. Then the land was dark until the morning sun revealed the punishment. All of the inhabitants’ plants were reverted to their original states. They grew slower and did not grow without love and care. So all the plants but one stopped growing and all but one of the inhabitants became weaker.

“Neutral, why did you grow but the others didn’t?” Inflation asked his flower. The flower shook his hat of leaves and branches that was decorated with a young House Blossom.

“I don’t know. Maybe it’s because I can feel your emotions.” It replied. Inflation watched as the inhabitants moped around Elias, their dirty glares in their tired eyes.

“Is it wrong if I feel pity for them?”

“Pity is neither right nor wrong. It is just sympathy for humans that don’t have your virtues.” Inflation bared the pain inflicted on him and continued to rise above the rest like a phoenix forever dying and resurrecting in a pile of ashes. No matter how much the struggled, the flames of hate never ceased. It wasn’t until Inflation came home one day to see his flower pot crushed on the floor and FurryFandom rushing out of the room. He came to his flower’s side. The flower was old and large House Flowers blossomed on his woody leaved branches.

“Neutral, why do people hate?” Inflation asked. His flower heaved a small sigh.

“I don’t know. Maybe it’s because they are weak inside and are lost in the darkness.” The flower replied. Inflation watched as shadows loomed at his windows, probably the inhabitants. He continued.

“Is it wrong for me to feel sad?”

“Sadness is neither right nor wrong, but let me close my eyes and rest for a moment…” And it closed its eyes and never woke up ever again. Inflation cleaned up the soil and lifted Neutral’s body into his arms. It glowed and disappeared, the flowers remaining power transferring to him. Inflation sat there for a moment before walking out of his house and buying another plant. The hate continued, but at a lesser degree of intensity. The seed grew and soon it was in adolescence. One day, they sat before the sea off the port of Elfa. In the distance near them was the debris from Inflation’s raft.

“Inflation, why is the sky blue?”

“I don’t know. Maybe its because it’s the only place that isn’t red with the flames of hate.”
