The musings of a guild leader are always full of drama. I wouldn't deny that my own musings aren't free of the dreaded drama bug, but we're all human. It's just that guild leaders are more exposed to those sort of things. What makes you different though, is your ability to come back from cloud nine to the people you love.
Have you ever played Tales of Vesperia? It's a Tales of game that mainly focuses on a guild who saves the world. Brave Vesperia. The Vesperia guild is something that really inspires me as a guild leader. No matter how different you are, you can achieve anything as long as you work together and believe.
Cause that's what guilds are really. A group of radically different people brought together to work side by side and believe in a common goal. Your guild members are your friends, your family and something you can hold special as your guild. Whatever goals you have in the wind, you can achieve them when you work with your guild and believe along side them.
Ah beautiful... but in stark reality, many people treat guilds differently. The different mindsets that run guilds are not on par with this mindset. Some guilds just are a gathering of people with no goals. Some guilds are dedicated for features in the game. Some guilds are gathered under a central theme. Some guilds are for selfish reasons. Some guilds are for good reasons. But all in all, we really should be looking towards our guild as our family, not a thing that rests above our in game names with a pretty image to the side. It's not a bad thing if you're one of the above descriptions, you just need to be aware that your guild is your family, your friends, your community, the people you stick by through and through until you decide to join another family.
As people, we should work towards a common goal, together. Get rid of discrimination, succeed together, achieve the impossible, find Iris. I mean, we all are different. There's the princess (Estelle), the rouge (Yuri), the little kid (Karol), the kid genius (Rita), the beautiful vigilante (Judith), the hobo (Raven), the pirate (Patty) and the best of all (at least to me) the knight in shining armor (Flynn), but all in all, if we share a common goal, we can achieve it. We all have our talents, we all have our gifts and, when combined together, we can cover more ground and beat up some
I think it's the improper balance that really gives us the ability to achieve our goals. Looking back on my Inflation life, there were so many different people, so many little lives. The people who had abstract interests or skills really had the ability to help us through tough times. Whether it was childish ignorance or overbearing optimism, the sheer differences between us and how we can thrive can be truly amazing... Unless you look at it in terms of discrimination. Then you're doing it wrong.
Is it a common plot ploy to have a very color cast that's almost rainbow colored? Well, I guess it is. Every Tales of game has a colorful cast of radically different people. I mean, look at my favorite Tales of game: Tales of the Abyss. A pussy aristocrat that gets some balls, a militaristic woman, a gynophobic man, a snobby princess, a gold digging little girl and a sarcastic man with an inner mad scientist inside. Abyss Man anyone? (Why am I orange?!). Ah... good times...
But usually, common plot ploys can be related to real life. Saved by the bell? Happens sometimes. Major suspense is followed by a minor event. Stress a lot before a final to find that it's easier than you thought. So, a colorful cast of people who go save the world? Maybe not save the world (more or less save Iris from... whatever the plot is in LaTale), but achieve something that you want to achieve, together.
That being said, don't brainwash your guild members. I mean seriously. If your guild members think they're the shit because of X, X, X, you need to tone them down. Practice some humility and be humble.
But I'll save that for another day.
