CaRant: Maestros

Somethings are rant worthy, some aren't. Put a Ca in front and you get CaRant: a rant that is done by Calamansi. There are times when my opinions get too strong and manifest into complete essays, but words sometimes fail me and I'm left with a made up word to describe my feelings. Let's expand upon what really goes on when I calag or carage or even better, CaRant.

Mnn. I hate Maestros. One's normal reaction to this is an inquisition to why I hate Maestros. Well, here's my argument and evidence.

Maestros are boring, slaves to Coli, inefficient to PvE, TAID whores and chained other features of the game that might have financially beneficial qualities, but very much are boring because there's too many of them, there's more to the game than the aforementioned and it gives less depth into making a Minstrel at this present time.

Guys, the Maestro bandwagon is stupid. If you're making a Bard right now in hopes to make a Maestro, stop. right. now. Unless, of course, you like Bard and therefore Minstrel. Guys, if you're going to make a Subclass, you need to enjoy the Main class first before you can be a Subclass. If you don't, then you're just fighting and punishing yourself. I know for a fact that the Bard and Minstrel classes are not easy going, attack frenzied classes that are capable of soloing at the whim of their desires. They're weak. I should know. I'm a weak ass Minstrel, but I make it work.

Some people don't want that. They want the "raw, epic power" of the Maestro. Too bad that their sights are on the far end of the spectrum and the path before them is the hard, dependent lives of a Bard and a Minstrel. The harsh reality of it is that Bard and Minstrel are not meant to be strong. They can heal, but without proper funding and technique, you'll find yourself dead in seconds. Let's compare this with a Blader and Strider. Sure, they can be just as fragile as Bard and Minstrel, but they are able to attack their way through mobs to compensate. This is what people are used to; a great attack as their greatest defense. You don't get that as a Bard and Minstrel. You just get your dimpy guitar, your afk move, heals and buffs that people run away from. If you can't handle Bard or Minstrel, don't bother with making a Maestro and make something that's more stimulating (maybe Ruin Walker or Strider).

That aside, with so many Maestros, the lack of originality and drive for some people dwindles. Do you remember rankings? I kinda do, but if you check the Sub Class Rankings, the entire first four pages are completely dominated with Maestros. That's a bit sad to me. Maestro is only seen for its financial benefits, but at the end of the day, after the profit is gained, you log out and go onto your main and jack off there. Using it as a class you'd want to use indefinitely is completely blown out of proportion because of the ends justify the means mindset that people have. But does that really make you happy? Make a boring class to gain profit? Or is the promise of ely blinding you to your wants?

That's part of the problem of Maestros. With the end justifying the means perspective blinding many players, the only features of the game they see are the following: Coli, TAID, Bossing and Degos. That's pretty shallow for gameplay isn't it? They're all boring in their own right and repetitive. Enter map, kill boss, exit, repeat. That's a great way to play LaTale. But remember, there's Soul Urn farming, Guild Crops, Monster Illustration, Reputation farming, and a whole lieu of different things you can do in this game. It's not restricted to those 4 repetitive boring activities; Maestro just blinds you from what is in front of you.

So what's the point of being a Minstrel? If you haven't noticed, I'm anti Maestro and permanently a Minstrel. I have been Maestro for a total of 10 minutes and only one picture of me of that dreaded class exists as a symbol of proof of completing Sub Class quests. What is the point? I'll tell you. Minstrel is the quintessential casual farming class. It seems a bit paradoxical since Ruin Walkers and Striders are considered farming classes due to their affinity to item drop rate and high damage per second, but I'm a casual player that is not hardcore to the point where I pump my viens with +2500% item drop rate. I just pop an Enhanced and go. Evil sound while I tab out and watch videos. Evil sound while I talk to guild members. Evil sound while I have heart to heart with my John. It's not just me and the game, it's me, the game and what I want to do.

Sure, I don't have the power to KS people. I don't have the power to Coli, TAID, boss or Degos. I don't have the power to go into high leveled areas alone. But at the end of it, I have the power to do the things I want to do. It degrades me to see people make Maestros and stay there on their "high horse" when there's a wonderful class right there in front of them. Can you attack both sides as a Maestro? No. Can you heal yourself efficiently as a Maestro without pots? No. Can you use an Elemental Flow build that allows you to never use pots? No.

It's a question of whether or not you want to be in control of your character or do you want your character to control you.

But let's call it a night and wait for our next adventure.

..."buffs and heals that people run away from."
^My entire life as a bard/minstrel. e.e My first character was made sorcerer and I regretted it fast because I wanted to be a bard then minstrel so badly. It's true I have a maestro but he's not as powerful as I could make him and I only use him for farming purposes. If minstrel was just as powerful as maestro that'd be fine; I'd use my minstrel all the time. I absolutely love healing and buffing. >_> It just gets stressful when you're doing something like TAID and people don't stay still for buffs and don't stay close enough for heals. -.-;

@Linh I'm more or less just tired of of people not enjoying the game for what it's worth. There's people who complain to me how boring Maestro is or what a pain to do xx run to get what they need, but in actuality there's other wonderful classes and activities to do.

@Anon I hateeeeee it when people run from buffs. As a retaliation, I created my build to have few buffs, but even then I have to stop and tell people to stop or not get any buffs. Heals are a bit harder to run from, but when someone dies and you were running from heals, that's their fault, but the minstrel is still glorified for their mistake.

All in all I wish Maestro was enjoyable, but the above says the rest.

Maestros can attack on both sides.
