Last week, OGPlanet gave us an update. Too bad I was too tired and lazy to make a post immediately, but hey, the best things in life don't come immediately, now do they? I have a special treat for everyone (I'm gauging it on how much work I have to do for these posts). Pack your bags and skip through the meadow because we're going all over the world of LaTale! Warning: Picture heavy.
Before we go to main event, let's do some subtle condolences. Congratulations to BoondockSaint and JohnGee on leveling to level 196 last week and this week respectively.
It was a bit boring for them, but a bit entertaining for us.
On the subject of leveling, I've jumped from level 170 to 184 in the past few weeks. It's hard to imagine myself so high leveled... I've always been a lower level in games I play. By the way, what's the highest level you can get for Love Level?
John and I have been dating for more than a year now, our couple status beginning in January of this year. I really want to know what the highest level would be, but I'm sure John and I will find out.
In terms of events, OGPlanet has a new event for us. If you log in for an hour without any disconnections, character changes, or log outs, you have the chance to win some wonderful prizes. The biggest prize that's getting everyone head over heels is a free Gaia or Tartarus set. If you log in for an hour for 27 days, then you will win one. Any who, congratulations to EwwToBread on getting his Gladiator ring!
I'm so jealous! How do you get a Gladiator ring?
Yesterday, Ranu (Eeekz), Paul, (hellwyvern), and I obtained our Gladiator rings.
Most people have a vague idea of how the process works, partly because they have helped someone with the quests or have done them to obtain their own rings, but than clearing up the haze and letting others know the flow of the golden river.
At level 180, the Colosseum NPC that distributes quests, Fable, will give you the last 5 Expert Colosseum quests. These quests involve you to kill certain monsters you will face in Expert Colesseum, however the only one that truly counts is the 15th level quest.
The 15th level quest only requires you to kill the boss at the end of Expert Colosseum, the Dispirited Wolf. After completing the 15th quest, Fable will stop you the next time you pass by her. You might have to change the map so she'll stop you if she doesn't. From there, you go to the top floor of the Colosseum Lobby and talk to the NPC Geral.
Turn in the quest and the gates to the repetitive quests will open! The first quest is to kill 1 Phoenix.
Onward to Valhalla!
Seriously, they need to make the walk a bit more shorter. Yes, you can go through Asgard to the top of Bifrost now that we have the Hell's Door episode, but it's still a very long walk, sometimes lethal. You come face to face with some of the biggest mobs in the game, either going up Bifrost or through the Hangers, and they all want you dead. I always lag to death before I die in game, so I try to avoid going to Valhalla. I snuck in some pictures of going to Valhalla though, regardless of my laziness.
So, Valhalla is a maze, not much as the Frozen Labyrinth, but a maze regardless. Sometimes there's the occasional portal that doesn't appear,
but if you're still alive, you'll find your way to the clutches of Phoenix.
WOOSH. Epic screenshotting away! With Phoenix killed, the team of village idiots go back to Belos to turn in their quest and molest a little citrus for a certain member.
Oh how special we are. After turning in the quest, what could come after the frightening Phoenix and its gauntlet of death?
The next quest is to kill 1 Hell, located right next to the D-Labo Bay Iris.
We rushed to Hell's Door; didn't even bother to knock. I was left in their dust as they ran towards the portal. Hmph!
Hell isn't hard, she's just a bit special.
Look at the way she floats, the way her pixelated breasts jiggle more than a cheerleader on a trampoline, the way her arms are so rigid and straight against her sides.
I never go to Hell without a party, she is a deadly... person, I guess I can describe a woman with her brain outside of her skull and attacks with squishie... appendages.
I guess the greatest thing about a bard is that you can't get hit by Hell once if you space yourself correctly. Just out of her attacks and her giant one that will probably OHKO you.
But hey, the job is done.
I think Ranu and I feel inadequate when standing next to Hell when she's not attacking us.
There better be some fashion in the near future that makes our flat chests appear bigger...
Anyways, we turn in the quest to Geral and receive our next quest.
After killing Hell, you have to kill Shaggy 3 times. By this point in time, I have some trouble completing my quests because of a problem in the Gladiator ring obtaining process.
The thing is, you can't have both a scenerio quest and a Gladiator quest concerning the same boss. In short, you have to do your scenario quests before accepting the Gladiator quest from Geral. If it so happens that you have to do the scenario and you do have the Gladiator quest, it'll tell you that "You can't do this right now." So, that's what I did for the next two portions of the quests for I didn't do my scenarios for them. Although this is the part in which I had to do some extra work, you must complete the Phoenix and Hell scenarios in order to even enter their maps freely.
Man, I'm tired of the word scenario.
At least Shaggy isn't a hard boss. We could do it without John, although I didn't like the idea of being killed.
You know, I only actually got interested in the subject of Jack the Ripper after visiting White Chapel 4. The irony of it all...
With the Shaggies dead and our anticipation rising, we scurried back to Belos to find our next challenge.
Kill 1 Siam Vespucci. So... Where do you get the scenario for that? Well, you need to do all 3 scenarios for the Space Time Zone. This includes Oberon and Titainia, Asura King, and Shaggy. I had to finish the Oberon and Titainia scenario, but it's easy piesy.
Be sure to have all 3 of the red iris pieces and walk past Tonio next to the Elias Airport portal. He'll say some things, he says a lot of things. He steals your ely too if you Option Reassign, but that's beyond my point. He'll give you the scenario to go kill Siam and your adventure will continue!
WASHAAAAA! You know, Siam looks pretty cute in pixels, but in her artwork... she looks kinda old. Either way, this sets the scene for an epic battle!
INSERT SONG - lost your sky by winnie
I can imagine it now... Oh my, my imagination is going wild once more. It makes you wonder though... Is Siam female or male? Place your votes everyone! (Mine's female).
So, 1 Siam killed. You rush back to Belos and your journey is drawing to a close. Just one more quest left before the glory of golden letters spelling out the word Gladiator will decorate your character needlessly, yet very much oddly satisfying...
The final quest. 2 hidden missions. 1 goal. Final destination. To the best of my knowledge, the 2 hidden missions are completed after clearing Hardcore Colosseum completely (correct me if I'm wrong). So, we did that.
WASHUNK.
STRUM. STRUM.
Did you like my attempt to make images seem more exciting? I didn't. So as you can see, Hardcore isn't too hard if your party is balanced and/or you're used to each other's style. It's either that or a complete mosh pit of death and destruction on both ends in which sometimes you have to leave a corpse in there so the rest of the slaves can jump the murderer. Either way works.
Before long, you'll come face to face with the grand daddy of all bosses. Geral. He's not so big when he's a teen with clothes that I really want in real life, but after a few seconds he turns into something... less desirable so it may be described.
The battle is long and hard, but there is hope! That little gleaming light at the end of the tunnel. The gold chalice that's draped with red. The carrot on the end of a rope before a mule. The Gladiator ring.
It's like killing the final boss to a Square Enix game, isn't it? Can someone say Kingdom Hearts I and II? What about Final Fantasy X or X-II? I'm only listing games that I've actually played by the by.
If you're lucky like us, you'll have a fatality count of 1, but some runs won't be as lucky. Just keep trying at it and everything will fall into place.
If you have your Monster Tower ring, you can trade in both your Monster Tower ring and your shiny new Gladiator ring to Ases for a stated Gladiator ring, or anything that she offers.
This is our blood, sweat, and tears (maybe some white showers too).
I hope some people will have some successful endeavors in their Gladiator ring. I heard some people have some Furlough days this week. Kudos to you, your teachers aren't being paid. Thanksgiving is around the corner, I hope you're ready to confess to those around you two words that signify gratitude. It's way too late for me to functioning so I'm going to have to close this with a tired sing-songy note. Hasta la vista, baby.
